I decided to move this fantastic Caetano Rodrigues contribution to make this album more visible. Some friends could not find it and it is reposted exactly how it was done last year, no upgrades this time, just to help new friends.
Thank you!

This is what I call “perfect happiness”: sun, guitar playing and the barquinho. Who wants to be like Sacha Distel? Everybody. Thanks to Caetano Rodrigues for this nice release, Sacha Distel – Un Amour, Un Sourire, Une Fleur (1975), for EMI. Sacha

Distel is a French male singer that started at the age of 16 as a professional jazz guitarrist. Over his career he worked with some legends such as: Dizzy Gillespie and Tony Bennet, being established since the late 50′s as a crooner.
I admit that I never had the chance to hear Sacha Distel and I’m enjoying a lot the way he sings Bossa Nova tunes with the French accent, good combination. Un Amour, Un Sourire, Une Fleur has arrangements from Raymond Gimenes. With this crazy computer crash, I did not have time to research if this LP was recorded in Brazil or France. Let’s our Loronix friends from France share their knowledge this time.

Tracks include:

01 – Deixa
02 – Agua de Beber
03 – The Girl from Ipanema
04 – Dindi
05 – Corcovado
06 – Je Crois Qu’On S’Aime
07 – Meditacao
08 – Voce Abusou
09 – Insensatez
10 – Susis Moi
11 – Medlley Orfeu Negro

Incredible !!! This guy is very familiar to a french guy born in the 50′…
In front he was (died in 2004…) a cool and friendly seducer, but behind a very good guitar player. Henri Salvador, suggest him to buy a guitar, and at the age of 20, he was elected «Best french guitar player» by the famous publication «Hot Jazz». He was a friend of Stan Getz and made a world famous record with J. Lewis (MJQ). Raymond Gimenes who arranged this LP, was already with Sacha in his last band till 2002…

This is the french version:
1975 – PATHE C 064-96309
“UN AMOUR, UN SOURIRE, UNE FLEUR…”
Arrangements : Raymond Gimenes
DEJA(Deixa)
CE N’EST QUE DE L’EAU(Agua de Beber)
LA FILLE D’IPANEMA (The Girl from Ipanema)
DINDI
CORCOVADO
JE CROIS QU’ON S’AIME
UN AMOUR, UN SOURIRE, UNE FLEUR (Meditacao)
FAIS COMME L’ OISEAU (Voce Abuso)
QUAND TU M’AS PARLE (Insensatez)
SUIS-MOI

An other interesting record I guess…
1969

Hi Peleon,
you have a very nice blog, for Bossa fans the Maysa-Single with “Reza” in Spanish is very interesting. Also the Bossa-Nova compacto with the Italian Basso-Valdambrini Quintetto. I think this Quintetto made a whole Bossa-Nova LP. Do you know if these tracks are taken from the LP or are this extra tracks?

Hi Zecalouro,
This is another great post, one of hundreds! I think you will soon reach the magic number of 1000, no?
Well I wanted to draw your kind attention to the rincon website for another Sacha. But Peleon had the same idea a few instants before me.
This is another beautiful day for the happy retro latin-mediterranean-brasilean sounds.
All the best,

Hi Loronixers,
Paola Martini has a nice blog called “La Voix de son Maître” where you can find an excellent example on how Sacha played the Jazz guitar. The recording includes some Brazilian songs. Here you are the link to this entry:

Thanks to Paola.

Hello Everybody,
Thanks for these cool comments, actually you should thanks Caetano Rodrigues for this unusual post.
Frank-Oliver, Peleon website was also a great surprise for me. That Maysa record is great.
Pelon, please, more!!!
Onzichtbaredj, no, it will take some months to reach 1K. When I made the post number 100, I could never realize that 1K should come so early. Thanks for Loronixer that makes their daily contributions.

Hello, Zeca, no answer for the moment about «Un Amour, Un Sourire, Une Fleur», sessions localization, but a personal advice… The sound is not brazilian, it looks like casual french «variété» musicians, so may be the recording sessions would had hapenned in France… ≈|;¬°
